My Thoughts
Some thoughts to share from over years of coaching and meditation
Why Meditate?
It’s a question that comes up from time to time and it is hard to quantify how meditation helps, as it’s a journey that we undertake as individuals and no two experiences can be the same. But as we progress in our meditation, we feel the difference in ourselves. Why meditate, let me give it a try.
Imagine if you were in a carriage being pulled by 4 horses where each horse is pulling in a different direction and refusing to follow your lead. I think we could agree, that your journey would not be smooth, potentially would be riddled with problems and you would struggle to reach your destination.
We live in a world where stimuli is 24/7 and the average mind is habituated to being constantly busy, agitated and pulled in different directions. This agitation creates conflicts within us and we need to find a way to harmonise our physical, mental and intellectual personalities. Meditation is that process that helps bring about this harmony; it helps us control and calm our mind; and brings about self awareness. When we understand ourselves better, have control over our mind and emotions, and are in a calm and balanced state, we are better able to deal with what life brings us. It is in that state where we stop being instinctively reactive that we realise how meditation has changed us.
